This hat is worked sideways, with a centre back seam and picked up ribbed cuff. The body of the hat is worked on larger needles and the rib in smaller needles for a snug fit. You could work in the same size needles throughout but your cuff will be a little looser .

I used my brand new yarn - BareFaced Chunky www.jostorieknits.com
but you could use any chunky weight wool, alternatively you could use 2 strands of contrasting DK weight yarn held together to create a marl effect . I used Silver Birch DK and Charcoal DK for my marl

You’ll need approx 2 skeins of Barefaced Chunky 120g without the pom pom and 160g with self pom pom) or 170m/186y in alternative yarn.

Its a one size fits all but it’s easy to adapt for a smaller head at the brim by reducing the needles or work in an Aran weight for a childs head.
