Bunny and Carrot Car
This pattern is to make a decorative car and bunny ornament. It is a good stash buster as it makes use of oddments of double knit and 4 ply - orange and green for the carrot, brown or grey for the rabbit and tiny oddments of 4 ply for the scarf etc. The carrot uses approximately 35 m of yarn and the rabbit around 25 m. You can easily customize the car with embroidery and felt decorations using what you have at home, something a child might enjoy doing. The wheels could be made using large buttons and this would make it a suitable toy for a young child.
Both the rabbit and the car are made from several components with some basic sewing and embroidery required as well as knitting. The knitting is not complex but is unsuitable for a beginner, so this pattern is for intermediate ability knitters.
All funds raised from the sale of this pattern will be donated to Acorn Rabbit Rescue in East Yorkshire, UK. My friends Caroline and Mick started the rescue in January 2020. The pandemic has resulted in many, many rabbits being given up for adoption. The problem is worse for rabbits than it is for cats and dogs. Old or ill rabbits that cannot be rehomed can live out the rest of their days in the tranquil surroundings of the rescue. Buying this pattern will help raise some money for the Acorn cause. So far, March 2022, I have raised £22 from sales of my previous knitted bunny decoration/toy.
Final Size
A finished car is approximately 30 cm long when knitted on 4 mm needles from end to end, excluding the green leaves.
