The suggested yardage for the lace does not apply to this pattern. I was not able to change that. The lace-weight mohair is used for the pompom only.

Once one gets to the last decrease row, the stitches are very stretched out. Have patience. It all works out in the end.

After I put the remaining tail (after pulling it through the stitches at the end, the top of the hat) I put my finger in the hole and pull gently on the tail. It will tighten up the last stitch from the tail. this makes for a neater final ring at the top. Then I remove my finger and weave in the ends.
