The reversible Bunny Buns Baby Blanket pattern gives you 3 sizes to chose from: crib size, receiving blanket and stroller size.

The pattern is a combination of granny squares, intarsia crochet and striped colour work. It is made in sections. The first section is the granny squares that are joined as you go (JAYG). The coloured striped section is made and joined to the granny square section. The intarsia crochet are the carrots and leaves in one of the coloured stripes. Rows will be added to the top of the granny square section. To finish, an edging will be added to the top and on the bottom of the FESC row.

Stitches used are:

  • FOUNDATION EXTENDED SINGLE CROCHET*
  • EXTENDED SINGLE CROCHET*
  • SINGLE CROCHET
  • HALF DOUBLE CROCHET
  • DOUBLE CROCHET
  • BOBBLE STITCH*
  • CRAB STITCH*
  • Instructions and/or links to YouTube tutorials are provided in the pattern for these stitches

Baby blankets are items my own kids snuggled for a long time as did my grandchildren so I like to make them big! I prefer the crib size but other sizes are included in the pattern.

I was specific about a few things on this design…
#1. Reversible
- It is just as much fun on the back side as it is on the front side. The front has all the bunny eyes looking at you and on the back you can see their cute little tails. The carrots look the same on both sides.

#2 Colour:
- I took into consideration that babies only see black and white for their first few months which influenced my colour choice but it would be just as nice in any colour of the rainbow.

#3 Shapes:
- Babies prefer to look at objects that are round with light and dark borders, like faces with eyes. This inspired motif choices.

#4 Modern:
- Putting together the kid-friendly bunny motif, with black and white stripes and adding the extra carrot detail, resulted in a gender-neutral modern design that ticks off all the boxes.

Here’s what some Testers had to say about this pattern:

  • Modern and unisex.
  • I like learning new techniques.
  • I liked how adorable the bunnies and carrots work with the stripes.
  • I loved the tutorials.
  • Adorable blanket.
  • I loved that it was two sided.
  • I loved that it was reversible and not another granny blanket.
