we are looking to make a knit fabric that is slightly on the denser side by choosing a tad chunkier bulky weight of yarn that will be worked on smaller needles, for example: lamb’s pride bulky held together with a lace/dk weight mohair.

for the most part, you need 1 ball of each unless noted in
these yarn combo suggestions we have worked with:
(if you wish you ears to be longer, you will need a little more yarn )

Gauge:
gauge of body: 3.5 sts - 3.75 sts per inch and 5.5 sts per row
gauge of brim and ears: 4.5 sts per inch 6-6.5 sts per row

3 strands held together of Shetland Spindrift (100% Shetland wool 25g, 105 m/114 yds, 3 balls are used) held together with 2 strands of Hand Maiden Whisker mohair (50% Super Kid Mohair, 38% Wool, 12% Nylon, 50g, 200 m/217yds)

2 strands of Qing Fibre Dashing DK (100% Ultra fine South African Merino, 100g, 225 m/ 246 yds) held together with 4 strands of Qing Fibre Kid Mohair Silk (70% Ultrafine Kid Mohair, 30% Silk, 50g, 420 m/459 yds)

1 strand of Lamb’s Pride Bulky (85% Wool, 15% Mohair, 113 g, 114 m/125 yds) one strand on its own :) but does look a bit cuter, fluffier with 2 strands of Whisker mohair or a lace weight mohair like Ito Sensai (60% Mohair, 40% Silk, 20g, 240 m/262 yds)

2 strands of Qing Fibre Melted Baby Suri (65% Baby Suri, 20% Merino 15% Silk, 50g, 175m/ 191yds) held together with 2 strands of Shetland Spindrift

2 strands of Shetland Spindrift (2 balls used) held together with 1 strand of Noro Tsuido (100% wool, 200 g, 321 m/352yds)

2 strands of Cotton Fleece (80% pima cotton and 20% merino wool, 100 g, 197m/ 215 yds) held together with 2 strands of Hand Maiden Whisker mohair.

2 strands of Plymouth Galway (100% wool, 100g, 200m/210 yds) held together with 2 strands of Hand Maiden Whisker mohair.

we suggest avoiding 100% alpaca, as it tends to stretch
