ABOUT THIS PATTERN
The hat is knit bottom up in the round. It has a relaxed fit and slightly slouchy top.
Its main feature is a simple travelling slip-stitch print against garter stitch background. You can choose to work the brim as a single layer, or double (folded).
The hat whips up in no time, so is perfect for last-minute girt or sudden cold spell.

I first created this design in spring 2017, to knit it to order for sale. I got a huge number of reuests to write it up as a pattern, which I did December 2017 in Russian. Since then, it’s been knit a few hundred times, and now it’s finally available for English-speaking knitters!

Please note, some of the pattern photos are from my testers who are not on Ravelry. You can see many more FO’s from this pattern on Instagram under the pattern hashtag: #Burberry_winter

2 sizes (can be adapted with gauge), for head circumference 52-54cm/20.5-21.25” (teen/ adult S) and 56-58cm/ 22-23” (adult M-L).
Please read through the whole pattern before starting!

WHAT YOU WILL NEED
Yarn: the hat is knit with super bulky weight yarn (50-75m/55-80yds per 100g/3.5oz) – by holding aran weight double. You will need ~150 (180) m/165 (195) yds of yarn (after doubling).
Samples were knit out of 2 yarns with significant difference in yardage, but same gauge:
• BBB Filati Full (100% merino 90m/98yds per 50g/1.8 oz) held double;
• Drops Air (65% alpaca, 28% nylon, 7% wool; 150m/165yds per 50g/1.8oz) held double.

Needles: 2 pairs of 40 cm/16” circulars + DPNs for the crown (or knit fully on DPNs / magic loop)
• Main (for the slip stitch print): 7 mm / between US 10.5 and 11 (circulars + DPNs)
• Ribbing: 6 mm / US 10 (only circulars)

Notions
• Stitch markers, tapestry needle, scissors
• Cable needle (optional, all twists are 11, so can be easily done without a cable needle)
• Crochet hook (optional to weave in ends without splitting the yarns)

GAUGE per 10cm/4” after wet blocking, slightly stretched
• In print (see last page) on main needles: 16sts by 26 rows
• In ribbing: 17 sts, row gauge highly varied – work the brim to indicated / desired length

REQUIRED SKILLS
Knitting, purling, classic long-tail cast on, 1x1 rib, basic increases and decreases, reading charted instructions (optional).
