Burren Cowl
About
The word “Burren” comes from the Irish word “Boíreann,” meaning a rocky place. The Burren Cowl gained its name for the rocky, craggy texture of Burren National Park. Uneven and highly textured, but oh, so beautiful.
The Burren region is known worldwide for its unusual landscape and flora. In the summer months, there’s a wonderful diversity of colorful flowering plants living together within one ecosystem. From arctic-alpine to Mediterranean plants, and even woodland plants growing out in the open with not a tree nearby to provide shade from the sun. It’s unbelievable that they all survive in a land that appears to be composed entirely of rock.
Designed as a palette cleanser when you need something easy and engaging in your hands, this cowl will give you a fun, easy, and wearable project to relax into. Filled with just knits and purls, it’s suitable for a confident beginner but engaging enough for a more advanced one. It’s a quick stash-busting project available in one size. Whether you knit one for yourself or make several to gift, it’s surely a cowl to brighten someone’s day.
