BURREN Tweed Beanie Knit Round
The Burren is a beautiful area in the west of Ireland. It has an unique ecosystem making it geographically and botanically original. The area is covered in huge boulders of bare grey rock , which appear empty and barren from a distance, but which are in fact covered in tiny rare species of flowers and botanical specimens, which are world-famous and of huge significance in the botanical world-the famous Burren “flora and fauna”. The area has miles and miles of bare rock, in a multitude of gray shades, subtly speckled with the colours of the flowers growing between the cracks in the rocks-known as “clints and grykes”. This wild and wonderful landscape inspired this hat pattern which is handknit in a beautiful wool mix yarn in gorgeous shades of green/black/ brown/ grey/ cream, speckled with gold and cream flecks.
The hat is a close-fitting beanie style with raised horizontal ridges on the lower half and a plain knit upper part.
Stitches- plain/knit and purl.
Easy- Intermediate Level knit
Yarn- Aran/Wortsed - yarn weight 4
Knit in the round on circular needles and finished with DPNs for the crown.
This is a very comfortable, warm and smart looking hat which suits both men and women. It looks great in any colour but a tweedy , speckled yarn really compliments the design.
