Bushwacker
I love a hat with lining at the ears, but always thought a provisional cast on to join inside was an unnecessary step when it’s so easy to just whip stitch the lining into place. The Bushwacker shows you a new path for creating a simple hat lining, without the fiddly provisional cast on, but with the same professional, finished look. The Aran/Heavy Worsted yarn is just the right amount of warmth, and a little fair isle color work adds just the right amount of style.
Supplies:
Rowan Super Fine Merino Aran, 50 grams/93 yds. One ball each of three colors.
Main color (MC) = 01 Soot, Color A = 09 Teak, Color B = 02 Porcelaine
16” circular needle in US sizes 6 AND 7, or size needed for gauge. Gauge should be 19-20 sts over 4 inches stockinette, using larger needle. The smaller needle is used to knit the hat lining.
Finished dimensions: Top of hat to bottom edge is 8.5 inches. If you’d like a deeper hat, you may need more than 50 grams of main color. Finished circumference is about 19 inches, and will stretch to fit a 22”-24” head.
