Buttercup
The Buttercup Top is a musthave in your handmade wardrobe! Super easy to make, this basic piece is customizable to fit your own style. It can be worn many different ways. As a sleeveless summer top during the hot summer days, or paired with a cardi or a jeans jacket when it’s a bit chilly.
SIZES
XS (S, M, L) (XL, 2XL, 3XL) (4XL, 5XL)
Choosing the right size is of utmost importance. Take your body measurements and choose the size that corresponds with them. The recommended ease for this design is approx. 0-10 cm (0-4 inches) of positive ease. The measurements below are the finished garment measurements, not your own.
Chest circumference:
80, (90, 100, 110) (120, 130, 140) (150, 160) cm
31½, (35½, 39½, 43¼) (47¼, 51, 55) (59, 63) inches
The pattern includes a full size chart. Feel free to email me if you need any additional measurements.
MATERIALS
Needles: 4.5 mm (US size 7) circular needle. I recommend using an 80 cm or 100 cm circular for the body,
depending on the size you’re knitting.
Yarn: Sport weight yarn, approximately 500, (550, 600, 700) (750, 825, 875) (925, 1000) meters / 547, (601, 656,
766) (820, 902, 957) (1012, 1094) yards. I made this top with Mayflower Merino: The Collection in the colorway Sun. It’s a 100% SW merino yarn and comes in packs with four 50 g skeins (à 160 meters) with a gradient color change.
Other tools: crochet hook, darning needle, scissors, stitch markers, measuring tape, scrap yarn OR extra cable.
GAUGE
21 sts x 28 rows = 10 × 10 cm; on 4,5 mm needles in stockinette stitch.
