This pattern is written in English in US terms. I made this one in DK on a 4.5 mm hook and it measures 50 x 54 inches and it used roughly nine and a half 100 gram balls.

You can use any thickness of yarn you like as gauge is not important, I do suggest you use the hook size recommended by the manufacturer to get a good result.
