“Butterflies and Shadows“ Crochet Doily PDF Pattern

The pattern is a digital PDF file that you download once you complete your purchase.

This unique doily features 8 realistic butterflies surrounding a blooming flower center. The butterflies are made first, then joined to the flower center on the last round. The spaces between the center flowers look like the “shadows” of the butterflies fluttering above them. Buds are added between each butterfly to join them all together.
This bright, joyful doily will remind you of a beautiful summer garden! It can be made in a large variety of colors--the possibilities are endless!

Time to make: approx. 14-16 hours
Finished size: approx. 13 1/2 inches across
Approximate thread amounts given for each color
Materials needed:

• Size 10 (bedspread weight) crochet thread in: one color for the flowers, two for the greenery, and two to three colors for the butterflies. (Any size thread or colors may be used.)
• Size 7 (1.65mm) (or preferred size) steel crochet hook
• Small tapestry needle for weaving in ends
• Blocking board (or other blocking surface) and rust-proof pins
