This hat is fun to knit. It’s lightweight and delicate. It’s not tight because it’s slouchy. The hat is knitted from bottom to top in rounds. You can adjust the pattern to another yarn using the sketch included in the pattern.

Difficulty: Intermediate. Long Tail Cast-on method, Stockinette st, YO, decreases: SSK, SSSK, k2tog, k3tog; Twisted Knit, knit through back loop; S2P2K3TBL - Slip 2 stitches as if to knit 2 together. Pass them back onto left needle (the 2nd st becomes the 1st). Knit 3 sts through back loop.

Size:

• S – covers circumferences from 19” to 20”.
• M - covers circumferences from 21” to 22”.

Yarn: 1 skein of Gazzal Baby Cotton (180.45 yds – 1.76 oz; 40% acrylic + 60% cotton) or any Sport weight yarn. Such as:

• Debbie Bliss Baby Cashmerino,

Gauge:
23 st and 37 rows in 4” Stockinette st using 3mm (no 11) (US2.5) needles after blocking.
“Butterfly” size: 31 st and 34 rows = 5.12” width and 3.54” high.

Needles:

• 2 mm (no 14) (US0 or US1)* for ribbing: 5 double pointed needles or long circular needle for Magic Loop method.
• 3 mm (no 11) (US2.5 or US3)* for body of hat: 5 double pointed needles or long circular needle for Magic Loop method.

You might need to use the needles of one size up/down in order to obtain the same gauge.*
