Butterfly Kisses
Butterfly Kisses….I remember getting them from my Mom and I gave them to my daughter and now to my grandkids. A sweet tradition that brings smiles to my face as I remember more innocent times.
This was a great project to knit. The lace is not overly difficult, but interesting to work. There is an easy to read chart and for those who don’t like charts, the directions for the chart are also written out!
This exquisite shawl uses Fyberspates “Vivacious 4 ply”. It’s a great fingering weight Merino in yummy colors. It also blocks nicely, feeling almost like silk with dramatic drape. The 6/0 glass beads (you will need only 360 beads), which form the look of little butterflies, are optional. Simply just knit any stitch you don’t want to bead. Easy Peasy.
You will need to know or learn (full directions are included) for short rows (not hard), knit, purl, hooking beads (easy!), s2kpo, k2tog, ssk, and yo. Lace knitting is all about keeping your place. If you have trouble with this, contact me for tips.
This is a great project for the cold winter and makes a fabulous gift. It’s not as deep as some of my other shawls, so will work up a bit faster. I had enough left of the third skein to knit a pair of ankle height women’s socks.
