Butterfly Lace Shrug
I am very pleased with the outcome of this shrug and happy to offer it as a downloadable PDF pattern for you to enjoy knitting it with your favorite yarn.
This pattern is simple but knits up fast with needle size US 10/11 (6 - 8 mm), and shows off hand-spun yarn very beautifully, in fact I designed the pattern with hand-spun yarn in mind.
Use smaller needles for a thicker fabric, use larger needles for a more loftier fabric, depending on the yarn and style you like.
It is really a very simple knit from sleeve to sleeve with a variation of stockinette, garter ridges and garter ridge lace sequences, some with a twist to naturally create a bell shaped sleeve.
The fit is flattering to any body type and will adorn any of your sleeveless tops and dresses just beautifully.
It can be knit with as little as 4 ounces of hand-spun yarn, between 200 - 300 yds of semi bulky yarn loveliness.
You can also just work the sleeves with hand-spun yarn and the back with commercially processed yarn from your stash or vice versa. There are endless possibilities :)
What makes it a specially elegant piece of art is the knitted garter ridge edge finished with crochet lace & flower bud accents. You can also add a ribbed edging or just crochet around it in a contrasting or complementary colored yarn.
The hand-spun yarns I used to knit the shrugs shown in this listing is from my limited edition Lunamuse Fiberart hand-spun yarns.
Please convo me with any questions.
Happy Knitting :)
