Butterfly Mittens
There are two versions of this pattern, one with a Carl Sagan quotation and one without. Both are included in the PDF.
FINISHED SIZE
7” circumference and 9” long
Yarn
This pattern requires two contrasting colors of fingering weight yarn. Approx 200 yds each. Some very creative folks have dyed the butterfly or duplicate stitched it also!
Gauge
20 sts = 2” in Fair Isle Stockinette Stitch.
Take time to save time, check your gauge.
Needles
Size US 1 (2.25 mm) in preferred method for small diameter circular knitting. Adjust needle size if necessary to obtain the correct gauge for desired size.

Scrap yarn for securing thumb stitches during construction

NOTES
- Half of the butterfly is on each mitten, you can put the Butterfly on the palm or top by putting the thumb gusset in the middle of the butterfly chart or on the end of the chart.
