Makes a great shower or new baby gift!
How This Blanket Is Made
The unique butterfly motif used in this blanket is both moderately challenging and exceptionally entertaining. A variety of stitches will keep your interest piqued as the butterfly grows with every new round. To help you determine where to work each stitch, tips and photos are presented alongside the pattern instructions. A stitch chart, photo tutorial, and detailed video tutorial are also provided to help you along.
When these trapezoidal motifs are arranged, the butterflies appear to dance in pairs. Rows of motifs are joined into strips with single crochet. The strips are then joined together with single crochet stitching. Finally, choose from 4 border options to add a beautiful finishing touch to your blanket.
Pattern is written in US crochet terms.

Suggested Yarn Substitutes
Sample was made with a fine-weight cotton and acrylic blend, but feel free to substitute the fine-weight yarn of your choice. Lighter or heavier weight yarns may also be used. A different weight yarn may require a different size hook, as well as more or less yarn than noted. Working with a thinner or thicker yarn may result in different gauge measurements, which will affect the Finished Measurements.
Additional Tools and Materials
Size D/3/3.25mm crochet hook or size needed to obtain gauge
4 stitch markers
Tapestry needle

Gauge
Though exact gauge is not essential, for best appearance it should be close.
I used a D/3/3.25mm crochet hook. Select the hook size that gives the best appearance for your choice of yarn and your tension.
A significantly different gauge may require more or less yarn than listed.
