These are perfect functional ankle cuffs!
I created these shorter, button up leg warmers to be functional. I wear leggings to the gym, but they are shorter and don’t cover my ankles. I didn’t want to have to stretch a legwarmer over my shoes or take my shoes off so I made them button up.
The stitches used create a ribbing so they will stretch and the short rows create just a bit of flare to tailor a fit around the top of the foot and bottom of the calf. This minimized over stretching and sliding down.
Notes added to pattern for skinnier legs (kids)

Size US E/4 3.5mm hook.
And six 19-20mm buttons
