Chapter 1, Pattern 2: Buzz.
A two-color brioche hat with a stranded colorwork crown and ribbed brim.

Yarn Notes:
If you would like to substitute yarn, please note that yardage / meterage amounts may differ. If this is your very first two-color brioche project, I highly recommend using solid, semi-solid or tonal yarns. Use the lightest color as your MC and the darker as your CC yarn.

Skill Level:
Beginner Brioche Friendly! This is a fantastic first project if you are brand new to working this technique!!

Techniques Used:
Long Tail Tubular Cast On, knit, knit decreases, yarn overs, brioche knit (brk), brioche purl (brp), sl1yo, knitting in the round, stranded colorwork.

Construction Notes:
This hat is knit completely in the round, starting at the bottom of the brim and working to the top of the crown. You will begin with the Long Tail Tubular Cast On, which creates a beautifully machine-made look and is perfect to transition to 1x1 ribbing. You will knit 1x1 ribbing in your MC yarn for a cozy brim before moving to Two-Color Brioche, which will bring in your CC yarn. This will create a tighter brim, as the brioche will open up with blocking. After working Two-Color Brioche, you will begin working a colorwork crown to enhance the look of your hat. The colorwork will give your crown a bit of a point, which can easily be blocked out if you like. Be sure to read the blocking notes included at the end of this pattern for more information about how I blocked mine to achieve a more rounded crown.
