Or When Villa ‘nother Bloomin’ Climate Disaster Occur

Please note that the yarns that this scarf was designed for have been discontinued but the pattern will hopefully inspire you tho create similar scarves with other yarns.

These patterns are based on the appearance of the accurate Global Temperature 6 Colour Climate scarf (see image) showing 100 years of global temperatures (1920-2021), but use the benefits of BWM Bloom and Villa variegated dyed yarn to minimise yarn changes and give the impression of the gradual changes.

The example (top) has been created in response to the devastating floods in Qld and NSW, Australia in early 2022 with selective use of BWM Neutral Tones showing the increase in mud due to flooding as the planet warms. It also uses the green shift within BWM Caribbean to illustrate change from healthy growth to the yellowy-green of growth in high CO2 but insufficient nutrients.

Although the example has been done in a simple garter stitch, these climate scarves can be knitted or crocheted any stitch worked in rows; the pattern is needed for the colourway progression.

Other shades of Bloom or Villa are suitable for colourways illustrating other climate disasters such as fire, drought and flood such as in the River to Flame Climate Scarf pictured.
