The “By My Side” hat pattern lets you create one hat, with many variations. You can wear the brim open or folded over. You can make it with or without a ponytail hole, and the hole can be placed at the back or on the side. You can embellish the hat with a large button or flower. You can add color to the cross stitch band, or along the crab stitch edging. There are endless styles to achieve with this versatile design.

By changing hook size, you can achieve many sizes. Gauge is included for Ladies and Girls (4-8) sizes.

You will need approximately half a skein of Red Heart Super Saver worsted weight yarn (or similar), 6mm hook for Ladies & 5mm hook for Girls, or size need to obtain gauge, scissors, sewing needle and a large button or chosen embellishment (such as a flower).

Pattern is written in English, and uses US Standard Crochet Terms.
Stitches used include, HDC, SC, DC, Sl st, FPHDC, as well as the SC cross stitch and reverse SC (crab stitch).
