A clever combination of simple lace and cable stitches are used together with a speckled yarn to create this complicated looking design. This pattern will work best with a solid, semi solid or speckled yarn.

Instructions have been given for a toe-up sock with a traditional gusset and heel flap, finishing mid-calf with a twisted 1x1 ribbed cuff. It is also possible to work this top-down, with some forethought regarding length of foot and pattern repeats.

Only one sizing option is provided – however, there is wriggle room by adding extra purl stitches, or doing wider cabling. If you need to go down a size, perhaps some small substitutions can be made in the cabled areas, or by deleting some of the side/bridging stitches.
