By The Shore
This pattern uses the Oyster stitch to create a design to reminds me of sea shells. They are great mittens to wear down by the shore, perhaps when going for a nice bonfire with friends and family. Having a weenie roast down by the shore was always very popular, and still is, when I was growing up in Nova Scotia. I have many great memories tied to being down by the shore. These mittens are my tribute to not just that time, but the place.
I have included a bonus at the end of the pattern. The bonus is directions to an extra flap for your mittens. I was asked to make a pair with the flap to help keep my cousins hands warm during hockey games, while she watched her son play. The directions have NOT been tested, and you will need to be able to understand how decreases work, and be able to work out the stitch count as you go. The pattern for the fingerless mittens themselves, has been repeatedly tested.
The stitch pattern itself is described as a more advanced pattern. It will require attention to gauge and tension as you progress through the mittens.
