Byker Bridge
DESCRIPTION
Byker Bridge carries traffic from the city centre of Newcastle over the River Ouseburn east to the area of Byker over the lower Ouseburn valley. Originally opened to pedestrians only, it was subsequently widened by the addition of footpaths cantilevered out from the edge of the brickwork. Interesting places to visit in the area include Ouseburn Farm, a community green space complete with sheep and goats to feed, and Tom Collins House, an architectural masterpiece in the heart of Byker. Further south, the Ouseburn Valley has become a trendy industrial neighborhood with plenty of diverse restaurants and small boutiques.

CONSTRUCTION NOTES
This hat is knit from the bottom up. Corrugated ribbing is worked at the brim using various shades of brown to reflect the shadows on the brickwork caused by the elliptical arches of the bridge. Symmetrical decreases are worked at the crown to finish off the hat.
