Don’t have a chimney? No problem, you can Bring Your Own with this knit bricks pattern.

The stocking is knit in garter stitch at tight gauge to hold its shape. Sample knit on a US 4 vs label needle of US 6. Since it is garter stitch knit in the round, that does mean you will be purling every other round.

There are a lot of new techniques here. Ideas that you will use again in other patterns. These are all ideas introduced on my blog. They include decorative cast on and bind off, raised textured decreases and an i-cord that’s flat:

Skill Level: While this is not a beginner project, each technique has support including detailed written instructions, photo tutorials and You Tube videos.

This pattern includes instructions for an Afterthought Heel and German Short Rows. GSRs are my favorite short row technique, easy to work and remember.

Yarn: Sample knit with Rowan Alpaca Soft DK, a mohair was run with the white on the cuff, heel and toe. This is optional.

• You will need 2 balls of the MC, and 1 white.
• Other yarn ideas: a highly spun merino based yarn would work nicely.

Sizes: The pattern includes 2 sizes but I recommend the regular size. I felt the large was a big floppy, but I had alpaca in my yarn. A merino knit to a tight gauge would be fine,
