A pretty cowl for all seasons. The cable and lace patterns alternate around the loop, creating a lovely mix of textures. The knitting is easy, with every other round worked even in knit and purl. Perfect for beginners to lace and cables.
The single loop version is shown in my handspun blue faced leicester wool dyed by Into the Whirled (colourway: Kimura). I split the top lengthwise into two pieces, then spun each from end to end. Then I chain-plied to preserve the long stripes. Knitting with handspun is special indeed, so I carried on until I was nearly out of yarn before binding off.
The generously sized double loop is shown in 100% silk from Lantern Moon, which has a great silky crunch and beautiful drape. It’s so smooth and easy to wear, even in hot weather.
I think either size would also be amazing knit up in a fingering weight yarn to the same gauge, for an even lighter layer.
