This pattern uses traditional tam construction, with a diagonal ribbed edging on US size 1 needles, Latvian Braid trim, and colorwork on US size 3 needles. The use of a sticky Shetland style yarn, or other fingering weight yarn is recommended for this hat. The headband circumference is approximately 18 inches, which will stretch to fit a head of about 23 inches. There are 3 colors in this hat, and it will not require all of the skein of any one of the three colors. The hat requires most of a skein of the white/main color, half of a skein of the gold, and less than half of a skein of black.

Needles required include both 16 inch circulars and double points for finishing the crown of the hat.
