First in a series of panel afghans, I created this pattern to solve a problem. I love chevron, or “Ripple” afghans, but even with 15 years experience in crocheting, I still can’t keep the edges straight on a traditional style chevron…this pattern solves that with its nice straight edges!

Make this bold chevron pattern using the diagonal box stitch. Made in your favourite worsted weight yarn, this pattern is easily adjustable to any size you would like, from lapghan to full king size. Instructions below are for a stroller / lap sized afghan, with notes to make other sizes following.

Gauge – 5 pattern stitches (diagonal boxes) across or high = 4”

Stitches Used-
- Slip Stitch (sl st). Chain Stitch (ch). Single Crochet (sc). Double Crochet (dc).
You should also be familiar with colour changing at the end of a row.
