Cabin In the Woods
In the fall of 2012 my husband, as a belated anniversary present, planned a weekend getaway for us near Woodstock, NY. We spent a night in a cute little cabin in the woods with a stream running just outside our window, and went to see Bob Dylan play at Bethel Woods, on the site of the original Woodstock Festival.
Naturally, I brought along yarn and needles for a project that I had percolating in my mind, and the Cabin In the Woods wrap is the soft, warm and fun to knit result!
The wrap is knit all in garter stitch, starting at the center panel. I’ve recently updated the pattern and knit a new sample in Plymouth Select DK Superwash Merino yarn (top pictures). Yarn amounts and colors are listed below.
The wrap could be made larger or smaller by adding or taking away rows - of course, this will affect the total amount of yarn needed for the project.
For the updated version I used:
Plymouth Select DK Merino Superwash(100% merino wool, superwash, dk weight – 50g, 130yds, 119m) in 5 colors:
(A) color#1122 Wisteria, 3 balls or approx. 390 yds of dk weight yarn,
(B) color #1139 Straw, 1 ball or approx. 130 yds dk weight yarn,
(C)color#1132 Greenlake, 2 balls,or approx. 260 yds dk weight yarn
(D)color#1123 Peapod, 1 ball or approx. 130 yds dk weight yarn and
(E)color# 1126 Tangerine, 1 ball or approx. 130 yds dk weight yarn.
Here’s info on the original yarns I used yarns I used:
Filatura di Crosa Zara(100% merino wool, superwash, dk weight – 50g, 136.5yds/125m) in 5 colors:
(A) color#1706 Plum, 3 balls or approx. 340 yds of dk weight yarn,
(B) color #1503 Olive, 1 ball or approx 136 yds dk weight yarn,
(C)color# 1481 Slate Blue, 2 balls,or approx 275 yds dk weight yarn
(D)color#1773, Beige, 1 ball or approx 136 yds dk weight yarn and
(E)color#1732, Pumpkin, 1 ball or approx 136 yds dk weight yarn.
(Note: In shawl pictured, for color D, I substituted Sublime Extra Fine Merino Wool DK (100% extrafine merino wool – 127yds/116m, 50gms)in color#0014 (Toast), which is a lighter color beige).
The pattern has been tested by several knitters, but please let me know if you find any errors that have slipped my attention!
