Cabin Socks
It was a cool evening when I was thinking I needed to have a pair of thick socks on my feet and the question came up “Why don’t we see more DK weight sock patterns?“ The reply cam back rather quickly, “Because you can’t find DK yarn with nylon in it very easily.”
“Well,” I thought, “I can fix THAT problem!” You see, the answer is a simple and I for one, find the magic of fingering weight yarns endless. Holding 2 strands of fingering together is DK weight! Hold 3 strands together, you have Aran weight! But we will leave that magic for another story. For now we will work with the magic of 2’s and work through a simple sock, that can be finished relatively quickly.
Let me introduce you to “Cabin Socks.” This sock is worked holding 2 strands of a fingering weight yarn together. DK weight yarn, held single can be substituted. The sock is constructed top down and utilizes a cuff detail heel flap and toe in a contrasting colour.
