Cable & Fancy Stitch Socks
These socks have a pretty cable and twist stitch that stems from a vintage pattern and is interesting to knit. The cable pattern is prettily set off by the narrower, slightly openwork patterns in between. The socks are knitted on two needles and shaped to fit the leg nicely. The original pattern was designed as a sports sock, but we have used a luxurious, soft cashmere blend, making the socks gorgeous to knit and to wear. The finished result is a classic that somehow manages to be both old-fashioned and up-to-date.
The instep of the sock is knit, the toe top is knitted, then the heel flap stitches are knit, gusset stitches picked up, sole stitches knit and the two pieces of the toe are grafted together. Leg and foot seams are then sewn shut.
Larger needle size is just used for the cast on.
