Cable and Bow Planter Cowl
Looking for a gift for that hard to buy for houseplant? Treat it to a knitted accessory to keep it looking stylish and pampered.
The cowl is It is knitted seamlessly in the round, from the base to the top using double pointed needles or magic loop on long
circular needles and is designed to have a snug fit on a 12cm diameter planter. Information is provided for adjusting the fit to other sizes too. The stretchy rib and cable pattern allows flexibility for size and for straight or tapered sided pots. The ribbon is both decorative and functional, as it prevents the cowl slipping on small or shiny planters. The cowl stops 0.5-1cm
from the base of the planter to avoid water damage.
I think this pattern would work well in worsted weight yarn too, if aran yarn is not widely available in your area. It should be fine in a synthetic yarn too or cotton synthetic blend. I would be wary of using animal fibres for an item that might get wet or dirty during watering and need a vigorous wash.
While the item is designed to be knitted in the round for best results, guidance is included on how to knit it flat. If this the
seam may be slightly visible when stretched on a planter.
