Cable and Rails Hat

Cabled hat worked from the bottom (fold-up brim) to the top. After working 1x1 ribbing and a turning row, there is a set-up row that increases stitches in each of the six sections in order to accommodate the cables.
The main pattern stitch is a four-row repeat with cabling only on one row. It’s fairly easy to keep track of the pattern while working the main part of the hat.
Top decreases are perhaps the most challenging because they are irregular and attempt to keep the patterning intact as long as possible.
Skills needed: Knit stitch, purl stitch, increase (m1), decreases (k2tog, p2tog, SSK), and cables (2 over 2 right and left crosses, and 2 over 1 right and left crosses).
