Inspired by a cowl found on the streets of New York, the entire Wednesday morning class made this cowl for gifts a few years ago. Easy to knit on straight needles, the fit can be adjusted by knitting a few more inches in length so that it isn’t quite so close to the neck, but who doesn’t love to cuddle up with alpaca?
This cowl is knit as a rectangle. The cast on and bind off edges are then sewn together to make a close fitting ring around the neck.
This is a good beginner cable pattern. Quick to knit, it will make a great last minute gift.
The design is easy to keep track of and if you miss a cable you can easily make up on the next right side row.
