Modern cable wrist warmers/fingerless mittens.

If new to cable knitting, this may be a good introduction to the cable technique. The mittens are knit flat and have six columns of cables, with a cable twist every eighth row. The thumb hole is finished with a row of double crochet to neaten the edge (this is optional).

Pictured in main picture in soft Yak wool from Rowan, the sample has been knit on 3.75mm rather than 4mm
knitting needles to create a slightly smaller mitten.

MATERIALS
50g of a 100g ball of Cygnet Acrylic Double-knitting wool (pictured in ‘Emerald’)
1 pair of 3.75mm knitting needles and 1 pair of 4mm knitting needles
A crochet hook
A tapestry needle
A cable needle (optional) - a 3.75mm knitting needle can be used instead of a cable needle

TENSION
22sts and 30 rows over 10cm Square using 4mm knitting needles and stocking stitch

TECHNIQUES
Cable, Knit and Purl stitches, K1 P1 rib, double crochet, increasing and decreasing, stretchy rib cast on method (photo-illustrated technique)
