The first time I did a cable stitch, it was a 1 x 1 ribbed, 6-stitch cable. It took me thirty minutes to do. I never thought I would get the hang of them. Now, 6 years later, I wanted to create a pattern that would be great for a knitter who was just starting out making cables. For this cowl, you get to do right- and left-leaning cables without having to do any ribbing, so you can jump into your cables right away! This pattern is also great for learning how to and/or practicing knitting cables without a cable needle. The cowl is knitted in the round, and once blocked, it measures 10” wide x 4.5” tall.
