You can find this pattern for free on my blog, or you can purchase an ad-free printable PDF version (including a text only version). Purchasing the PDF for this original version will also give you access to the PDF for the updated version of this pattern, so you won’t have to choose between the two.

This pattern will show you how to make the knitted version of my Cabled Crown Beanie. There’s also a crocheted version, which you can find here: https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/cabled-crown-beanie

I made my beanie with less than 1 skein of worsted weight yarn (I used I Love This Yarn! Metallic in Ivory) and 6.0mm knitting needles. You will also need a tapestry needle. A faux fur pompom for decoration is optional. As written, the hat measures about 10” tall and 19” in circumference. It’s designed to be slightly slouchy, but you can easily adjust the number of stitches to make it even slouchier or to make it tighter fitting.

This hat is worked sideways and then seamed up the side and top to finish. It uses only basic stitches and doesn’t have any increases or decreases, so it’s a good option for a beginner who’s comfortable with a basic cable.
