These mittens feature a stag’s head made from cables. The head is mirrored on the other mitten. There are two options:

One has cables on the thumb, at the sides, and at the top of the hand, and the palm is worked in stocking stitch.
The other one is entirely worked in reverse stocking stitch.

Size
The instructions are for a woman’s small to medium mitten, but suggestions are given on how to increase the width. Length is easy to adjust, and for smaller/kid size mittens, you could use DK yarn and smaller needles.

Yarn
About 100m/110yards of aran yarn will get you a pair of mittens. The combination with 4 mm needles creates a tight and warm gauge.

Pattern
The back of the hand is charted, instructions for the thumb and palm are written.

And of course you can use the cabled deer motif on anything you like…
