Turn the fun & quick strappy Haka hat into something a bit more complex for the cable-loving knitter with this cabled version! The cabled hat pattern is bundled together with the basic Haka hat pattern and the matching cabled cowl in the Haka pdf.

Knit up this extra cozy hat in super bulky weight yarn, or hold three strands of worsted weight together (note that yardage estimates are for bulky; if using worsted you’ll need three times as much yardage).

The cable pattern itself is just charted (not written out); the pattern pdf includes a photo tutorial for cabling without a cable needle.

Knit it as a kid size by working at a slightly smaller gauge (using bulky yarn instead of super bulky weight). The standard adult size in the given gauge will fit most adult heads.

Haka hats are wearable four different ways! Let the strap hang loose, fasten it under your chin for super warmth, fasten over your head to free your ears, or fasten behind your neck for cozy ear coverage.

(The original basic Haka hat pattern was first released in 2008; the pattern was completely updated and the new cabled hat & cowl were added to the new version in 2013.)
