This is a pattern for a cabled version of the messy bun beanie. This pattern is worked top down. I offer instructions for starting with a hair elastic or starting with a chain.

This pattern is somewhat more advanced. It involves front post and back post double crochet and front post treble crochet. I offer instructions for these stitches along with pictures to help explain them, but I wouldn’t try it as a beginner.

I have created this hat using both worsted and Aran weight yarn. The gauge is listed in the pattern for both.

I would suggest that you buy extra yarn in addition to the yardage listed, as the cables take a lot of yarn, and the amount used can vary depending on how tightly you crochet.
