This is a pattern for a mug cozy. The one I knit fits a large Starbucks mug, around 16 oz. It can be adjusted depending on yarn and needle size and how many cable repeats you choose to do. I used a DK weight yarn and 4.5mm needles so the resulting cosy wasn’t very dense and had quite a bit of stretch. Aran or worsted weight yarn and 4.5mm needles would make a denser fabric and I imagine a fingering weight would be downright lacy and might need smaller needles.

Play around with the pattern till it fits your favorite mug. Different yarn and buttons will change the look of the cozy quite a bit. For a normal 8 oz mug it wouldn’t need to have quite as many repeats of the cable pattern so please personalize it to fit your mug.
