This download contains patterns for 2 cabled-sweater-look wine cozies / gift bags. They make a great one-skein hostess gift paired with a favourite bottle of wine and are designed to fit standard 750mL wine bottles.

The Chardonnay Cardigan Wine Bottle Cozy uses 3 different cable stitches to replicate a cozy Aran sweater. It has a ribbed ‘collar’ and is finished with four 18mm buttons. Each of the 3 cable stitches used in the pattern are described and are illustrated. The sample in the photograph was made with 100m of Lion Brand Fishermen’s Wool in ‘Natural.’

The Beaujolais Boatneck Wine Bottle Cozy features a large braided cable on both the front and back of the bag. A folded, ribbed ‘collar’ is finished off with two 14mm buttons. The two cable stitches needed to create the braid are described and illustrated. The sample in the photograph was made with 114m of Paton’s Decor in ‘Barn Red.’

These patterns are not suitable for absolute beginners. The Chardonnay Cardigan uses simple cable stitches that would provide a good introduction for a crocheter who is new to cables but is comfortable with front-post stitches.
