Skill level for this pattern is advanced knitting and basic crochet, must be able to knit cables. This is a written pattern, no charts are included.

The crochet portion of this pattern is very forgiving. Any yarn will work for this pattern, but Lion Brand Wool Ease Chunky looks the best in my opinion. The chunkier the yarn, the bigger the hat will be. If you want a larger hat to fit a larger head size or to fit over locks then use the extra chunky yarn (a picture of the oversized Maroon hat is included on this page).
