Cabled Wrap
This is the pattern for the gray or cranberry shawl pictured in this photo on my daughter’s wedding day. These shawls are made with Worsted Weight yarn, and they have matching fingerless gloves. The cream shawl is a different pattern, but also available in my Pattern store. The patterns were created to provide a wrap to keep the wearer warm, yet not struggle to keep the shawl closed and secure. It was worn by the bridesmaids at my daughter’s wedding in late November, and the girls remained warm and comfortable throughout the day. The shawl was designed to allow the girls to feel elegant while outside in the chilly air. They were able to move freely and easily, yet still be able to display the beautiful dresses. The three buttons in the back enabled the girls to remove the shawl without compromising the hair; the buttons can be hidden on the inside of the shawl, or can be shown on the outside. It is one size fits all, and the dimensions are 44 inches wide and 16 “ in length; however, easy adjustments can be made to alter the finished measurements. The garment requires about 850 yarns, including the yardage for the handwarmers. The cable detail is picked up again for the shoulder and neckline, and the decreases allow the cable to remain while adjusting for the neck sizing. It is finished with a rolled collar. The Fingerless gloves are the finishing touch. The girls were given the shawls at my daughter’s shower, and they have already found occasion to wear it in the cool fall weather. They are planning to wear it on New Year’s Eve; they have a number of occasions for which the shawls will be perfect. Yet it can be a dressed up look or a casual look over jeans.
