This hat is crocheted using a cable technique similar to knit cables. Its a super fun stitch to learn and have in your crocheter’s bag of tricks! The listing includes 2 pdfs: the pattern, and a separate photo tutorial of crocheted cables.

Yarn: 100 g/ 220 yds worsted yarn; preferably a type of yarn with good memory (such as wool). 100% cotton not recommended as it stretches out. Example: Lion Brand Fisherman’s 100% wool or similar.

Hook: G 4.0mm , H 5.0mm, or J 6.0mm, depending on size

Gauge: Follow R1-3, Ribbing to achieve above listed circumference measurements. Measure after completing R3.

Finished Measurements:

  • Baby: 16 inch (41 cm) circumference, 6.5 inch (16.5 cm) height (crown to bottom)
  • Toddler: 18 inch (48cm) circumference, 7 inch (17.5 cm) height
  • Child: 20 inch (51 cm) circumference, 7.5 inch (19 cm) height
