CacTickles
Since I have visited Big Bend National Park I have found a real admiration for underrated common cacti. I marvelled at how much their appearances resemble knitted textures, at least from afar. But up close, they are not that huggable and quite spiny and sharp! ! The cacti in this pattern really are cushiony and cuddlesome and tickly instead of prickly! Therefore I have called them CacTickles!
There are 3 striking succulents in this pattern: the rebutia, the saguaro and the parodia.
The 7 to 14 cm tall CacTickles were made in Drops Merino (47) sage green, (18) apple green and Drops Merino (31) forest green on 2 mm (US 0, UK 14) double pointed (sock) needles (thinner than recommended for a a denser fabric the filling won’t come peeping through). They were filled with toy stuffing.
The flowers were done in miniature in a lace gauge yarn on 1.25 mm needles, but they can be done heavier yarn on thicker needles and will turn out a bit larger.
The CacTickles are knitted in the round in textured stitches.
Have a cact-acular knit!
