This lightweight pullover offers a bit of stranded colorwork in the lower body and sleeves, where it doesn’t interfere with the shoulder and neck shaping. It’s knitted from the top down with set-in sleeve shaping, crewneck, and cropped length.

The sweater begins with stitches cast on for the upper back, which is worked down to the armholes. Stitches for the front are then picked up at the shoulders, and the front is also worked down to the armholes, with the neck shaped along the way. The front and back are then joined and worked in rounds to the hem, with a band of stranded colorwork followed by a speckled “lice” pattern to the lower edge.

Stitches for the sleeves are picked up around the armholes, the caps shaped with short-rows, then the rest of the sleeves are worked in rounds to the cuffs. The neck, lower body, and cuffs are finished with k1, p1 ribbing.

The directions are for a cropped body length, and you have two options if you want to adjust the length. The first option is to work more or fewer rounds using color A before beginning the chart pattern. Every 10 rounds added or removed from the color A section will lengthen or shorten the body by about 1” (2.5 cm). The second option is to work more or fewer 12-round repeats of Rnds 17–28 from the chart in the colorwork section. Every 12 rounds added or subtracted from the charted pattern will lengthen or shorten the body about 11/4” (3.2 cm). If you add length, you may need more of color A or color D, depending on where you chose to place the extra rounds

Finished sizes: About 331/2 (371/4, 41, 441/2, 481/4, 52)” (85 94.5, 104, 113, 122.5, 132 cm) bust circumference. Designed to be worn with about 2” to 3” (5 to 7.5 cm) of positive ease at bust.

Needles: Size U.S. 2 (2.75 mm): 16” and 24” (40 and 60 cm) circular (cir) and set of 4 double-pointed (dpn) or needle(s) for your preferred way of working small circumferences in the round.
