Caitlin's Favorite Sock Recipe
Updated Dec 2015.
This is a work in progress to create my favorite toe-up sock recipe using two needles or a knook. This sock recipe will help you make your own, personalized sock based on your own gauge and foot measurements. There are lots of measurements because every part of the sock is personalized to the foot. No tables to refer to, or arbitrary numbers.
To determine your arch height, measure the circumference of your foot from where it hinges with your leg and diagonally around the tip of your heel. (K) Compare this with the circumference around the ball of your foot. (X) If the difference is 4in/10cm or more you have a high arch. If the difference is 3in/7cm or less, you have a low arch.
For a low arch, I recommend the short row pattern. For medium arches, I recommend the short row or heel flap pattern. For high arches, I recommend the heel flap or fleegle heel pattern.
