While the gauge for this pattern is not SUPER important, you do want to have a water bottle carrier that works. So, after you make the initial circle you need to set your water bottle on top of it. Your bottle bottom should just be about the size of your bottom circle. If not adjust your gauge by switching your hook either up or down.

I find that Caron Cakes work up a little smaller than a 4-ply yarn, so, with a 4-ply yarn like Caron One-Pound or RHSS you may need to go down to your H hook.
