Some Fun Facts
Caladiums are tropical perennials with colorful, heart-shaped leaves native to
tropical forests in South and Central America.
There are over 1000 named cultivars of Caladium bicolor from the original
South American plant.
Do Caladiums have flowers? Matured, larger tubers do develop a flower-like bud. However, it can take years to bloom. Although they are grown as foliage plants, caladiums may bloom, producing a single (rarely 2-3) typical arum-type flower with a green or pinkish spathe surrounding a short white spadix.
Caladiums also bear fruits… they grow white berries.
Caladiums are also known as angels wings and elephant ears
Two main types of Caladiums are Fancy leaved, and strap leaved.
